Ivanka Ends Failing Clothes Line After Sales Dip Dramatically

After a year and a half as the president of the United States’ daughter, Ivanka Trump is closing shop on her namesake brand of clothing and accessories. Apparently, lying to the American public takes its toll on a person’s reputation after a while, and that seems to be exactly what is happening to America’s princess. The Trumps will probably try to spin it as a natural progression to better things, but we all know exactly why the company failed under her reign.

The announcement came from Wall Street Journal on Tuesday.

According to Wall Street Journal:

“Apparel sales at the brand, which Ms. Trump launched in its current form in 2014, soared in the year of the 2016 presidential election. But the company also became a lightning rod for critics of her father’s policies, with one anti-Trump group last year urging shoppers to boycott stores selling Trump-branded goods.”

Ivanka and her father’s growing unpopularity is quite evident in constant protests against them.

Ivanka in particular was expected to curb her father’s distain for innocent migrant children before he executed his plan to imprison them while deporting most of their family members. These children, some of whom will never see their relatives again, will be adopted out to some American family and likely never even know its history.

According to Business Insider:

“Online sales of the brand on Amazon, Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, and Zappos fell nearly 45% in the 12 months leading up to June, compared to the same time the previous year, the Wall Street Journal reported. In November, YouGov consumer perception survey found that Ivanka Trump’s fashion line had fallen to the bottom 10 of more than 1,600 brands analyzed.”

Ivanka gave the following statement Tuesday:

“After 17 months in Washington, I do not know when or if I will ever return to the business, but I do know that my focus for the foreseeable future will be the work I am doing here in Washington. So making this decision now is the only fair outcome for my team and partners.”

The woman who took over when Ivanka ‘separated” herself from the company upon becoming a close advisor to the president, also spoke out in a lengthy statement, saying:

“We’ve seen strong sales since the brand’s inception, which continued through this year with the successful launch of our rapidly growing e-commerce business. I know that this was a very difficult decision for Ivanka and I am very grateful for the opportunity to have led such a talented and committed team. When faced with the most unique circumstances, the team displayed strength and optimism.”
