The lady was taken to a mortuary in Carletonville, South Africa, but several hours later, technicians heard her breathing in the morgue fridge.
“You never anticipate to open a [morgue] refrigerator and find someone in there alive,” a mortuary employee informed a local newspaper. “Can you imagine if we had started the autopsy and killed her?”
The lady was taken to the health center on June 24, and since Monday (July 2), she was still hospitalized and in crucial condition, the New york city Times reported.
Authorities are now examining the case.
The ambulance team that inspected the lady on the scene “is definitely devastated,” Gerrit Bradnick, the operations supervisor of the ambulance service that saw the female, told the AFP. “We’re not in business of stating living people dead, we’re in business of keeping people alive.”
This isn’t the very first time an individual has been pronounced dead when she or he was actually alive. In January, a detainee in northern Spain was stated dead by 3 different doctorshowever was later on discovered snoring on the autopsy table. In another case that happened in 2014, a 91-year-old female in Poland was declared dead and spent 11 hours in a mortuary prior to personnel discovered her body bag moving and found her alive, according to the BBC.
