Mom-and-pop stores may feel the retail pinch in different ways than larger merchants like Dave Phillips Music & Noise(Allentown place): The popular music store closed its doors in Allentown in February after 27 years. The flagship shop in Phillipsburg, N.J., survives on, however owner Dave Phillips said loss of sales to internet shopping has led him to close the Union Boulevard shop.
Hackman’s Bible Bookstore & General Shop: The Hackmans looked for nearly 20 years as Christian or spiritual stores across the nation closed after long terms. Joe Hackman kept the faith till October 2017, when the shop’s anniversary sale showed too frustrating to continue operation. The 20,000-square-foot store in Whitehall Area closed April 30.
