The two reality stars met reportedly to discuss Alice Marie Johnson, a 63-year-old grandmother who is serving a life sentence for a first-time non-violent drug offence, to be pardoned.
It’s not known exactly what was discussed, but the President had invited Kim to the White House to discuss prison reform, and after the meeting they both tweeted their thanks along with a picture of Kim stood behind the desk in the oval office.
Kim wrote: ‘I would like to thank President Trump for his time this afternoon. It is our hope that the President will grant clemency to Ms. Alice Marie Johnson who is serving a life sentence for a first-time, non-violent drug offense.’
She added: ‘We are optimistic about Ms. Johnson’s future and hopeful that she -and so many like her-will get a second chance at life.’
The reaction was of utter disbelief, many finding it hard to accept Kim might know a thing or two about prison reform, while some made calls for Kim to run for president.
It was difficult for many to take Kim, who’s starred on her family’s reality show for the last 10 years, seriously as she discussed politics with the country’s leader, and her knowledge of the subject seemed to come out of left field.
She also garnered criticism for being the one to stand up and fight for Anne Marie.
Yet it wasn’t lost on others that Kim was attempting to be part of a positive change, with some going as far as calling for her to run for president. Could Kanye and Kim go head to head?!
Kanye West has drawn criticism for his support of the president, having recently been pictured wearing a Make America Great Again hat.
He also went on a Twitter rant sharing his love for the President.
‘He is my brother,’ he tweeted. ‘I love everyone. I don’t agree with everything anyone does.
‘That’s what makes us individuals. And we have the right to independent thought.’
Kanye received a huge flurry of backlash for his 80-tweet strong rant and decision to wear MAGA hat in public, garnering criticisms from the likes of Snoop Dogg and John Legend.
Snoop wrote: ‘That’s mighty white of u Kanye. !N**** if u don’t snap out of it Get out part 2.’
Kanye shocked with his lengthy rant on his political leanings, declaring his love for Donald Trump and insisting he has the right to independent thought.
He wrote: ‘You don’t have to agree with trump [sic] but the mob can’t make me not love him. We are both dragon energy. He is my brother. I love everyone. I don’t agree with everything anyone does. That’s what makes us individuals. And we have the right to independent thought.
‘If your friend jumps off the bridge you don’t have to do the same. Ye being Ye is a fight for you to be you. For people in my life the idea of Trump is pretty much a 50 50 split but I don’t tell a Hillary supporter not to support Hillary I love Hillary too.’
